Edwin Stuart Mather, 93, of the 100 block of N. Budding St. and formerly a longtime resident in Grand Island for 20 years, died Sept. 23, 1995, in Virginia Beach.
Mr. Mather was a native of Des Moines, Iowa, and was retired from AT&T as superintendent in charge of laying the coaxial cable in 17 states across the United States. He was a member of Thalia United Methodist Church and a member of Cox Sunday School Class and was an active member of the United Methodist Men. He was a member of the Pioneers of America, the A.A.R.P., and Masonic Lodge in Grand Island. He was predeceased by a son, Don Kriety Mather.
Survivors include his wife, Jacque Genevieve Marie R. Mather; one daughter and son-in-law, Byllee-Jacque Fraser and Donald of Virginia Beach; two granddaughters, Lindsay Linwood Shephard and Dr. Stuart Lockridge Shephard, both of Virginia Beach.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. William R. Kyle Jr. in Thalia United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Thalia United Methodist Church Building Fund in his name.
