CLUB DISORDER QUELLED

Up to 14 police officers and an Oceana Naval Air Station Fire Department crew were sent late Sunday to quell a disturbance when about 200 enlisted-club patrons became unruly in the club's parking lot, police and Navy authorities said.

No injuries were reported. Two civilians were arrested and six members of the military were escorted away, base spokesman Troy Snead said.

Snead said the problem began when the club manager decided to close the building shortly before midnight because of ``a couple of disturbances.'' The crowd was too large for club security to handle and the police were called, Snead said.

Some of the police officers were posted outside the base as backup, police said. The police were at the club about 30 minutes, records show.

Snead said the incident wouldn't affect club operations. Civilians have access to the club as guests, he said.
