Avalon Pier reported lots of spot, some tailor bluefish, a few trout and sea mullet landed during most of the day. The majority of bluefish were caught from the end of the pier on jiggers.

Anglers on Nags Head Pier caught spot at a steady rate all morning. A few blues and some two- to three-pound speckled trout were also taken. Action slowed in the afternoon.

Some big Spanish mackerel and tailor bluefish were caught by anglers on Frisco Pier during the morning, and lots of pompano and several speckled trout were docked in the afternoon.

Some nice puppy drum, tailor blues, scattered big spot and jack crevalle were landed at Cape Point.

Gray trout were caught in the Hatteras Inlet area Monday night. Some bluefish and puppy drum were taken during the day Tuesday along the beach from Ramp 55 to Hatteras Inlet.

Big yellowfin tuna and good dolphin catches were reported by charters fishing northeast of Oregon Inlet. Wahoo and dolphin fishing was good east of Oregon Inlet. Fair numbers of dolphin, scattered tuna and a few wahoo were landed around ``the point.''

Dolphin and wahoo action was good off Hatteras, with fish taken at various locations. Marlin fishing was fairly good, with blue marlin released by the Tuna Duck, the Chaser and the Judy Ann. Sailfish were released by the Big Eye and the Release.

Spot fishing should remain good along the Dare coast for a few more weeks until cool nights and falling water temperatures move the fish south.

The water temperature at the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck was 72 degrees Tuesday. by CNB
