Julian Cole King Sr., 79, of the 100 block of Snead Fairway, died Sept. 27, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Wise, Warren County, N.C. He was a retired Chief Machinist Mate in U.S. Navy and he was also retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he worked as a machinist in Shop 38. Mr. King was a member of Green Lakes Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Marie King; daughter, Janice K. Blow of Chesapeake; son, Julian ``Jay'' C. King Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Josephine Meador of Norlina, N.C.; two brothers, Morris King of LaCrosse, Va., Leroy E. King of Chesapeake, Va.; a half-sister, Joyce Leonard; and two grandchildren, Dana Jill Blow and Kevin Lee Blow.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Don Sheffield. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Green Lakes Baptist Church.
