Lovey Luke Kelly, 79, of the first block of Woodland St., died Sept. 27, 1995, in her residence.
She retired in 1977 from A & P Tea Co. in Portsmouth as a cashier and bookkeeper after 32 years of service. Mrs. Kelly was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and was the widow of Blannie Crayton Kelly. She was a member of Emanuel Episcopal Church of Portsmouth where she was the Treasurer of Women of the church and she was also the pledge clerk for the church.
She is survived by two sons, Crayton E. Kelly and William L. Kelly, both of Portsmouth; one sister, Shirley Van O'Linda of Richmond; two brothers, Linwood Everett Luke Jr. of Knotts Island, N.C., and Tommy Luke of Glen Burnie, Md.; two grandchildren, Daniel L. Kelly and Samantha K. Marshall; four great-grandchildren, Lisa N., Tara M., Jarrett C. Kelly and Hunter W. Marshall.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John H. Jordan in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times at (NU)13 Sampson Place in Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Emanuel Episcopal Church.
