Ralph Edward Kiff, 85, of the 400 block of Slate St., died Friday, Sept. 29, 1995, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Kiff was a lifelong resident of the area. He was born in Princess Anne County on Dec. 7, 1909. Mr. Kiff, a retired merchant, was the owner of Kiff's Market at the corner of Mt. Pleasant Road and Centerville Turnpike for over 30 years. He is remembered most for his wonderful bar-b-q and meat cutting ability. Kiff's Market was a local family market and neighborhood gathering place. Mr. Kiff was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, and a member of the Hickory Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Hughes Kiff; two daughters, Margaret Kiff of Virginia Beach, and Kay Kiff of Chesapeake; one son, William Ralph Kiff of Chesapeake; and one grandson, William Louis Kiff of Chesapeake.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, by the Rev. Robert Sowder. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
