U.S. Navy retired Senior Chief Norman M. Johns, 65, died Sept. 29, 1995, in his residence.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. He was also retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a ship superintendent. Mr. Johns, a native of Florida, was a veteran and a member of Fleet Reserve Branch (NU)40.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy E. Johns; one daughter, Judith Tarjan of Norfolk; one sister, Sammie Garcia of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, James A. McCollough of Punta Gorda, Fla.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Louise Bruce of Bartow, Fla.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. A. Kenneth Carlton Jr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A Fleet Reserve service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with a visitation to follow. Military honors will be accorded at the grave. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Personal Touch, 18 Koger Center, Suite 205, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
