Janice Marie Eastman, the Deep Creek woman who killed her husband and two children the day before Christmas Eve, died Thursday night at Chesapeake General Hospital.
Eastman, 33, had been brain dead since deputies found her hanging from the bars of her Chesapeake City Jail cell Wednesday morning. She was removed from life support and died at 6:18 p.m., a hospital spokesperson said.
Eastman was deeply depressed and had repeatedly tried to kill herself in jail, said her lawyers.
Her possessions - some letters and ``what little money she had in the canteen'' - were sent back to her family in Washington state, said one of the lawyers, Randall Smith. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
