The Coast Guard suspended its search Friday for a Norfolk man who fell overboard from a commercial fishing vessel Thursday night, 55 miles southeast of Cape May, N.J.
Robbie Jacobs, 22, fell from the 73-foot fishing vessel Miss Lauren, also based in Norfolk, about 10:30 p.m. He reportedly was not wearing a life jacket, according to the Coast guard.
Other crew members saw Jacobs fall and immediately turned their vessel around to look for him, then notified the Coast Guard.
Helicopters from Coast Guard bases at Cape May and Elizabeth City, N.C., along with the cutter Point Franklin, participated in the search.
