HONORS, AWARDS

INFOLINE, the Virginian-Pilot's audiotext system, won a first place award in the editorial support category for its hurricane Felix coverage. There are 128 audiotext systems worldwide. Five awards were given. INFOLINE also received recognition for being the first audiotext system to be on the Internet.

Business bankruptcies filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk:

Turner R. Bowser and Eugenia Bowser, carpet installation, filed Chapter 13 debt repayment plan on Sept. 19. Assets and liabilities were not available.

Anthony Jerome Turner and Rosa Maria Turner, Cookies Corner Family Daycare, filed Chapter 13 debt repayment plan on Sept. 20 with assets of $113,555 and liabilities of $158,175.

Custom Renovations Inc., exterior insulation finish system applicators, filed Chapter 11 reorganization on Sept. 20 with assets of $51,992.13 and liabilities of $232,552.53.

Century Concrete Services in Virginia Beach received as $1.4 million contract from the Navy for construction rigid pavement for air fields, runways and heliports in Norfolk and a $2 million contract for the same services in Virginia Beach.

Blueridge General Inc. in Norfolk received a $1.3 million contract from the Navy for for a second floor addition to building 108 at the NAB in Virginia Beach.

Hathaway-Duke Construction Co. received a $1.6 million contract for additions and renovations at he Independence Middle School in Virginia Beach.

J.C.B. Construction Co. Inc. in Virginia Beach received a $1.2 million contract from the city of Virginia Beach for the 1995-97 annual renewable various construction maintenance contract.

Warwick Plumbing and Heating in Newport News received a $2.7 million contract for transonic dynamics tunnel for heavy gas conversion at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton.

Hampton Roads Mechanical Contractors in Chesapeake received a $995,711 contract from the city of Portsmouth for maintenance sewage collection, steam, air, fresh water distribution and etc.

Asphalt Roads & Contractors Paving in Virginia Beach received a $3 million contract from the city of Virginia Beach for the Landstown Road North extension and Princess Anne Park access road.
