EARL M. REA

Earl Meredith Rea, 70, of the 400 block of Surfside Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 1995, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C.

He was the son of the late Virginia Harris and William D. Rea Sr. and the husband of Earline Kimberlin Schmidt Rea of Edenton. Mr. Rea was a native of Chowan County and the retired owner and operator of Rea's Bulldozer Service.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two stepdaughters, Evelyn White and Joyce McCarter, both of Mooresville, N.C.; three sons, Robert ``Bobby'' Rea, David Allen Rea, Richard Earl Swain and two stepsons, Robert Wiley, Albert Ward, all of Edenton; two sisters, Virginia L. Patrick of Anchorage, Alaska, Louella Long of Edenton; five brothers, William F. Rea of Tyner, Edgar Allen Rea of Suffolk, Meriam H. Rea of Portsmouth, William D. Rea Jr. of Wanchese and Jimmy Rea of Smithfield, Va.; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Earnhardt officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
