WILLIAM E. CARTWRIGHT

William Edward Cartwright, of the 900 block of E. Liberty St., died Sept. 30, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mr. Cartwright was previously employed by the Norfolk Naval Base. He was predeceased five months ago by his wife, Mrs. Thelma Cartwright. He was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ.

Survivors include six daughters, Thelma Taylor, Brenda Chesson, Joyce Gardner, all of Norfolk, Bernice Barron, Gracie C. Butts, Sandra Patricia Barron, all of Portsmouth; four sons, Leonard Barron, Charles Cartwright, both of Norfolk, Harold Barron of Bowie, Md., and Clarence Barron of Aikens, S.C.; one sister, Emel C. Watford of Norfolk; one brother, Harry Cartwright; 46 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted Thursday at noon by the Rev. Thomas J. Hart in St. Mark United Church of Christ, Norfolk. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norfolk. Metropolitan Funeral Service in charge. Family and friends will assemble 11 a.m. Thursday at 916 E. Liberty St. for the funeral processional to the church.
