Kids First Inc., an advocacy center for sexually and physically abused children, will hold a reception at its new office Oct. 11.
The group also announced that Cynthia Grafton, the executive director who helped steer the center through financial troubles last year, is leaving to take a position in the state Attorney General's office in Raleigh.
Grafton said she will work in the Citizens' Rights Division, acting as an advocate for victims of rape, domestic violence and child abuse.
Kids First, meanwhile, has doubled its staff and is in the process of hiring a new executive director, Grafton said.
The open house will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the new office, 205 E. Fearing St. downtown. Light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
