CANDIDATE FORUM TO BE HELD TWICE

The General Assembly Candidate Forum will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12 in the Virginia Beach City Council chambers at the Municipal Center. The sessions will be open to the public and will be cablecast on VBTV.

The event will be sponsored and conducted jointly by the Virginia Beach Council of Civic Organizations, the League of Women Voters of South Hampton Roads and the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. A representative from each sponsor will sit on a three-person panel each evening.

Approximately 170 seats in council chambers will be available to the public. The audience will not be allowed to demonstrate favoritism in any way. No banners or posters will be allowed.

Candidates scheduled are:

Oct. 11 - Senate 7th District, Edward Schrock (R), Dr. Clarence A. Holland (D); House 83rd District, Phillip Geib (D), Leo C. Wardrup (R); House 87th District, Thelma Drake (R), Howard Copeland (D). Uncontested candidates: House 82nd District, Bob Purkey (R); House 84th District, Robert McDonnell (R); House 90th District, William Robinson (D).

Oct. 12 - Senate 6th District, Stanley Walker (D), Dimitrios Rerras (R); House 21st District, Frank Wagner (R), Robert Avery (D); Senate 14th District, Mark Walker (D), Mark Early (R). Uncontested candidates: Senate 8th District, Ken Stolle (R); House 81st District, Glenn Croshaw (D); House 85th District, Robert Tata (R). by CNB
