Congressman Walter B. Jones and James C. Kearney, state director of the Rural Economic and Community Development Services, will present a Rural Business Enterprise Grant to Hyde County officials today at 11 a.m. at the Hyde County Airport in Engelhard.
The grant will be used to study the feasibility of launching a rural agribusiness export development project in Hyde County and other northeastern North Carolina counties.
The first phase will include revitalization of the Hyde County Airport and the construction of a factory to manufacture modular factories, prefab houses and chicken houses. Additionally, this project will provide technical assistance to farmers and fishermen and small business in Hyde and 15 other northeastern counties.
RECD's Rural Business Enterprise grant program is designed to finanace and encourage the development and expansion of small and emerging private enterprises in rural areas, Kearney said. by CNB
