William Augusta Gaylord, 42, of the 1000 block of Johnston Road, died Oct. 1, 1995, in a veterans hospital.
He was a native of South Mills, N.C., and was a member of Mason Memorial COGIC, Norfolk. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his biological mother, Alberta V. Williams of Norfolk; wife, Cynthia D. Gaylord; daughter, Jovina L. Gaylord of Norfolk; one son, William A. Gaylord of Norfolk; one sister, Cynthia Wilson of Norfolk; two brothers, Cornell Marsh Burn of Virginia Beach and Clifton Gaylord of Norfolk; one grandson; five uncles, a cousin, and a host of friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Gertie Gaylord and William Gaylord.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in New Bethal COGIC, Norfolk, by Pastor Lowell Anthony. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the funeral at E.A. Hughes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday.
