JOSEPH F. GRIFFIN SR.

Joseph Fonza ``Joe'' Griffin Sr., 80, of 126 Beechwood Drive, died Oct. 3, 1995.

A native of Edenton, N.C., he was the son of the late A.I. and Josephine Forehand Griffin. Mr. Griffin was the owner and operator of Griffin's 76 Service Station, a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and the Traveler Protection Association.

Survivors include his daughter, Joyce G. Bryant of Suffolk; two sisters, Eula G. Johnson of Suffolk and Beulah G. Jones of Newport News; one brother, Roy A. Griffin of Franklin; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Griffin was predeceased by his first wife of 30 years, Vera ``Blondie'' Griffin; his son, Joseph F. Griffin Jr.; and his second wife of 20 years, Blanche Gray Griffin.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas W. Gibson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439, or to Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1637 Holland Road, Suffolk, Va. 23434.
