O. Kermit Hobbs Jr., vice president/manufacturing of Hobbs-Adams Engineering Co. and its successors, Amadas Group and subsidiaries, is the winner of the Romey Everdell Award.
He will receive a recognition plaque and a monetary award at the 1995 International Conference of the American Production and Inventory Control Society Inc. in Orlando, Fla., Oct. 22 through 27.
An article written by Hobbs, entitled ``Application of JIT Techniques in a Discrete Batch Job Shop,'' was judged to be the best article published in the Production and Inventory Management Journal in 1995.
Hobbs also has been recognized by the Society as a Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management.
A native of Suffolk, Hobbs received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech and has been associated with Hobbs-Adams Engineering Co. since 1965.
Hobbs is Finance Committee chairman, History Committee chairman, and teacher of the men's Bible class at the First Baptist Church. He has authored ``Storm Over Suffolk,'' ``Never Say No!'', and co-authored ``Suffolk: A Pictorial History.'' ILLUSTRATION: O. Kermit Hobbs Jr.
