JAMES MILLERING

James ``Jimmy Ford'' Millering, 62, of the 9500 block of 17th Bay St., died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 1995, in Norfolk.

Mr. Millering was a supervisor with the Utility Department, City of Norfolk, for over 13 years.

Mr. Millering was a native of Norfolk, and a Baptist. He was a professional drummer. He played under the stage name of ``Jim Ford'' with numerous local and national country music bands. For 16 years, he played at the Purple Onion with the Sunset Ramblers, and for 12 years at the Silver Saddle with the Sunset Ramblers and The Silver Spurs. He was also formerly the drummer with Sylvia and the Nashville Bound. Mr. Millering was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict; a member of the VFW, Post 3160; American Legion, Post 327; and the Musicians Union in California.

He is survived by his beloved friend and companion for over 20 years, Connie J. Colvard Millering; three sons, William C. ``Bill'' Edwards and his wife, Stephanie of Norfolk, John L. Edwards and his wife, Myiuki of Virginia Beach, and James Scott Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; an aunt and uncle, Paul and Bernice Benjamin of Norfolk; an uncle, Aubrey Swinson of Norfolk; and number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a sister-in-law, Sharon Galbraith and her husband, David of Norfolk; a brother-in-law, Dr. William Vohringer of Norfolk; and numerous other beloved family members.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, at 3:30 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. Charles H. Snead Jr., Pastor of East Ocean View Baptist Church. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard will assemble at the funeral home for presentation of the flag.
