William Preston McCrory Jr., 72, of the Ocean Way Condominium, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 1995, in his residence.
He was a retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and also retired from a local construction materials company as their sales manager. He was born in Norfolk, and was the son of the late Elizabeth Mays and William Preston McCrory Sr. He is a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd; the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club; a former member of the Norfolk Sertoma Club; a veteran of World War II; a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers; the Air Force Association; and the Reserve Officers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jeane Cartwright McCrory; son, W. Preston McCrory III, and his wife, Kerry Gurganus McCrory; a brother, Thomas M. McCrory; and two grandchildren, Kerry Nicole McCrory and Carlin Allison McCrory, all of Virginia Beach.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Norfolk by the Rev. Fr. Ross Wright and the Rev. Fr. David Lassalle. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Norfolk Academy Library Book Fund, 1585 Wesleyan Dr., Norfolk, 23502. Following the service the family will receive friends at the Ocean Way Condominium first floor reception room, 500 Winston Salem Ave., in Virginia Beach. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
