CHEERING 3 WORKING WAY TO PRO BOWL BENEFIT DINNER WILL HELP MEET EXPENSES

Chesapeake will have one more opportunity on Oct. 14 to help send BJK Cheer Hawaii to the NFL Pro Bowl.

BJK Cheer Hawaii is a trio of Oscar F. Smith High School cheerleaders - Bobbie Riley, Jesse Lambe and Kelly Weaver - who won the right to cheer on the sidelines of the NFL's annual all-star game, the Pro Bowl.

Jesse is a junior and the 15-year-old daughter of Barbara and Kevin Lambe; Bobbie is a sophomore and the 15-year-old daughter of Keith Riley and Diane and Walter Eli; and Kelly is a junior and the 16-year-old daughter of Suzanne and Bob Weaver.

Kelly and Jesse are members of the school's varsity cheerleaders, and Bobbie is captain of the junior varsity squad.

The three won the right to appear at this season's Pro Bowl by achieving high scores at competitions held at an Eastern Cheerleaders Association summer camp, held in June on the Oscar Smith High School campus. Judges gave the three high marks for their enthusiasm, performance, stunts, gymnastic ability, cheers, chants, attitude and ambition.

The only problem, though, the game is will be held in Hawaii, and traveling there takes a few dollars.

That's where the fund-raisers come in.

So far, the BJK Cheer Hawaii movement - a consortium of parents, relatives and friends of the three girls - have staged two fund-raiser dinners.

A third and final fund-raising dinner will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 14. at the Double Deuce Restaurant and Lounge, 4027 Bainbridge Blvd.

As with the other two benefits, the fish dinner will take place thanks to the help of Bill Gray, proprietor of the Double Deuce.

``We knew Mr. Gray is very community-oriented,'' said Jesse's mother, Barbara Lambe. ``Suzanne (Weaver) contacted him, and he said, `This is what I'll do for you.' He offered us all the food and the use of his place. That's the way Mr. Gray helps people.''

Portlock Printing is donating tickets and printing work.

Tickets to the dinner cost $5 and can be bought at the door for either eat in or take out. MEMO: For advance tickets or more information contact Jesse Lambe at
