KELLAM'S LEADERSHIP

Compliments are due for the editorial on Lucius James Kellam Jr. (Sept. 28). His leadership, far more than any of the other participants in the construction of the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel, led to the completion of this extraordinary link to Virginia's Eastern Shore. His particular persistence in negotiating the financing for such a revenue-bond issue was, by itself, a singular achievement.

Compliments also to the skill and sensitivity of the editorial writer and the knowledge of history relative to the bridge construction. Such a span of vision is all too rare these days.

It should be noted that construction of a dual causeway has now begun, for the ultimate safety and benefit of travelers over this increasingly utilized facility.
