JAMES E. PORTER

James Emanuel Porter, 74, of the 100 block of Wren Road, Chuckatuck Station, died Oct. 2, 1995, in the VA Medical Center, Hampton, Va.

Mr. Porter was born in Newport News, and was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Church of God In Christ, Carrsville, for 27 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He also retired from Webster Brick Co. in Suffolk after 25 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Georgette Porter; one daughter, Artistine Robinson of Portsmouth; son-in-law, Kevin Robinson; and one grandson Kevin Brian Robinson. Mr. Porter also had eight foster children, five daughters including, Marian Benton-Boone of Norfolk, Helen Holland of Franklin, Margi Thompson of Yuma, Tenn., Jorenia Benton and Jannie and Marc Reddick of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three foster sons, William Thomas and Evelyn Benton, and Jeremiah and Theresa Benton of Boston, Mass., and Albert and Rochelle Benton of Fort Worth, Texas. Twenty-five foster grandchildren and three foster great-grandchildren. One sister, Elsie Gebo of Santa Monica, Ca.

A Home Going service will be held Oct. 7, 1995, at 1 p.m. at Christian Home Baptist Church, Windsor, Va. where Rev. Wendall Waller is the Pastor. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will be accepting guests at the home of Kevin and Artistine Robinson at 4 Misty Court, Portsmouth.
