To justify the verdict of the Simpson jurors, as staff writer Charlise Lyles tries to do (Oct. 4), because of the outcomes of other cases not connected with this one, is to say that two wrongs make a right.
Is this the impression Ms. Lyles was trying to create - that because blacks are unhappy with the outcome of the Rodney King trial, it is OK to acquit Mr. Simpson?
Ms. Lyles says, ``. . . for I believe if ever a man was guilty of murder, Orenthal James Simpson is'' and that to her ``the evidence was overwhelming.'' Exactly what kind of justice does Ms. Lyles support? Is it OK to set a murderer free?
Perhaps she believes it would be OK for whites to riot in L.A. because they disagree with the verdict.
I find it difficult to believe that the founding fathers intended for us to practice a sort of tit-for-tat system of justice.
