Mrs. Dorothy Cherry Jarvis Bie, age 72, a former resident of Portsmouth, and formerly of 404 Rodman Road, Washington, N.C., died Thursday morning, Oct. 5, 1995, in Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown.
Mrs. Bie was born in Beaufort County on Aug. 17, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Merritt R. and Esther Cherry Jarvis. Mrs. Bie was a former resident of the Portsmouth, area, where she was employed as an educator with the Portsmouth City School System until her retirement in the early 80's. Mrs. Bie returned to Washington after her retirement and was a member of the First Christian Church of Washington.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John C. (Kristen) Bie Simpson of Middletown; and three grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the family plot in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Dr. Ray Silverthorne. The family will receive friends Monday after the funeral services at the home, 404 Rodman Road, Washington. Arrangements by Paul Funeral Home, Washington, N.C.
