MARIA Y. NORRIS

Maria Yvette Norris, 36, of the 500 block of West 26th St., died Thursday, Oct. 5, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

She was a teacher's assistant with the Norfolk Public School System for 15 years. She was employed at Sherwood Forest Elementary School for 11 years; and at Camp Allen Elementary School for four years, where she worked until her health began to decline.

She was a faithful member of the Holy Light Church of Deliverance, where she served as a Crusade Choir member and a former Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include one daughter, Denise Norris; her parents, Bobby and Maurice Norris of Norfolk; three brothers, Robert Norris of Chesapeake, Carlos Norris of Woodbridge, Va., and Ross Norris of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. Patricia Smith and Mrs. Brenda Nixon, both of Portsmouth; Vanessa and Felicia Norris, both of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; one god-child; two nieces; three nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Samuel Carruth at the Holy Light Church of Deliverance. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
