The Hyde County Board of Education has received a check from the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources in the amount of $350,000.
This money has been received as a result of the Grants to Public Libraries fund established by the 1995 Session of the North Carolina General Assembly. The grant money is to be used by the Hyde County Board of Education for the establishnment of a cooperative community and public school library at the Ocracoke School site.
``Thanks to the leadership and limitless efforts of Senator Pro Tempore Marc Basnight, House Speaker Harold Brubaker, and Representative Zeno Edwards, the beginning of a school-public library at Ocracoke will be come a reality. This grant money will provide the resources to build a facility that will support the needs of students and community,'' Dr. Ronald Montgomery, superintendent, said. by CNB
