WRONG TARGETS

I am concerned over congressional actions to reduce spending and balance the budget.

Members of Congress, including those who signed the Contract With America, seldom, if ever, mention corruption in high places; tax evaders; dishonest government contractors and employees; waste, fraud, pork and many other practices that siphon government monies. Instead they issue statements to the media threatening to reduce or eliminate earned and rightful benefits of the elderly, veterans, government retirees and others.

Government and Social Security retirees paid into the retirement programs, and veterans served their country. Why must we constantly be brow-beaten as though we are guilty of destroying the country? Many cultures revere their elderly, but in America, we are just in the way and bankrupting the country.

One wonders how some congressmembers can face those in their family who are elderly, retired and/or veterans.

I ask Congress to concentrate more on scofflaws and stop placing an unfair burden on the elderly, retirees and veterans.
