Because inclement weather forced the Chamber of Commerce to postpone last week's ``Autumn Afternoon'' street dance, the event has been rescheduled for 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Portside.
The free event will feature live entertainment by Undercover beginning at 5:30 p.m. No food will be served other than what is available from Portside merchants.
Three years ago, the outdoor party switched from a ticketed affair with catered food and DJ music to a free event featuring live entertainment.
About 1,200 people are expected to attend the fall mixer, which gives business people a chance to network in a social setting, said Jan Burton, the Chamber's program manager.
It is sponsored by the City of Portsmouth, Commerce Bank, Hoechst-Celanese, Hoffman Beverage, Maryview Psychiatric Hospital and the Portside merchants.
The street dance will be the last big party at Portside before it closes for the season Oct. 15. by CNB
