MABLE A. SANDFORD

Mable A. Sandford, 83, died Friday, Oct. 6, 1995, at her residence in Virginia Beach. She was born on July 16, 1912.

Mrs. Sandford was a native of Spring Grove, Va. She was the widow of the late Oscar Sandford. Mrs. Sandford was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Survivors include a son, Walter P. Sandford; a sister, Blanche Colbert; three grandchildren, Renee Davenport, Arnold Sandford Jr. and LaVerne Corey; two great-grandchildren, Christina and Russell Davenport; a sister-in-law, Romie Turner; nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was predeceased by three sons, Oscar Sandford Jr., Arnold B. Sandford Sr. and Wayne Morris Sandford, five sisters, seven brothers and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Howell.

A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1995, at the family cemetery on Highway 10 West, Spring Grove. John Elliott Funeral Home, Claremont, Va. (3522 Spring Grove Road, Claremont, Va. 23899) is handling the arrangements.

There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 9, 1995, from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Sentara Home Hospice for their care and support and all of her companion aides. Friends and family will be received at the residence of Renee Davenport, 3990 Water Oak Road, (NU)422, Virginia Beach.
