MAN FOUND DEAD

An elderly man was found dead in his ransacked home Sunday. Police are treating the case as a murder.

Ephfrom Williams, 75, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound in his home in the 3000 block of Oak Ave. It was not immediately clear how long he had been dead.

Police went to the residence about 9 a.m. after the landlord noticed a door ajar and called the man's relatives. They, in turn, called police.

Williams was last seen alive at 10 p.m. Friday by his daughter. His car, a gray, 1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88, was missing from his home and was found Sunday afternoon at the King James Motel at Mercury Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue.

Police have asked that anyone who saw the car - which has Virginia license plate ZTP-8367 - between Friday night and Sunday morning, or anyone with information about the case, call Crime Line at 245-0755.
