JOHN WHARTON

John Wharton, 96, of Virginia Beach, died Oct. 9, 1995, in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Wharton was a native of Liverpool, England. He was the widower of Janet McGregor Wharton. He was an Episcopalian.

He was the beloved father of two daughters, Janet Hagerman of Virginia Beach and Margaret Goldsmith of Garden City, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Alison H. Peternell of Massachusetts, Amy H. Drescher of Virginia Beach, Robert A. Hagerman of Virginia Beach, John Goldsmith of New York, Peter Goldsmith of New York, Bonnie G. Donohue of Connecticut, Stacie Goldsmith of Vermont; six great-grandchildren, C.J. Donohue of Connecticut, Grace Goldsmith of New York, Hannah Peternell of Massachusetts, Patrick Goldsmith of New York, and Isabell Drescher of Virginia Beach.

A church service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 11, 1995, in St. Aidans Episcopal Church by the Rev. Peter Hogg. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Aidans Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 3201 Edinburgh Drive, Virginia Beach. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel are handling arrangements.
