Sprint Cellular Co. said it signed an agreement to buy the operations of Southeastern Cellular in eastern North Carolina, including the Outer Banks portions of Dare and Hyde counties. Terms weren't disclosed. Sprint, which is one of the two main cellular providers in Hampton Roads, already serves Currituck County in North Carolina, including the Outer Banks community of Corolla. The addition means Sprint will have cellular coverage on the Outer Banks from the Virginia border to Ocracoke Island. Other North Carolina counties included in the service area purchased are Pitt, Martin, Beaufort, Washington and Tyrrell. by CNB
