JOHN M. GRIFFIN

John M. ``Johnnie'' Griffin, of the 5300 block of Libertyville Road, died Oct. 10, 1995, in a local hospital.

He was retired from Swift Fertilizer Plant and was also employed at Pruden Company. He was a native of Newland, N.C., and was the widower of Lucille Griffin. He was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church, Chesapeake. He was a Deacon and Mason for Willow Grove Lodge (NU)198 P.H.A. and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Gladys Beard of Virginia Beach, Diane Moore of Chesapeake, Joan Moore of Norfolk; two sons, Lawrence Moore and Moses Moore, both of Norfolk; sister, Armesia B. Long of Chesapeake; brother, Daniel Griffin Sr. of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six nieces; three nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Mahaila Griffin and John Griffin.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon Monday by the Rev. Calvin White in Willow Grove Baptist Church. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 5311 Libertyville Road, Chesapeake, Monday at 11 a.m. for the funeral procession. Metropolitan Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
