NORFOLK WOMAN DIES IN WRECK

A woman died shortly after the car she was riding in was struck broadside Friday night. A woman driving the car was injured.

The names of the victims were withheld until relatives could be notified.

The accident occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 3900 block of Granby St.

Police said the women were in a 1979 Ford heading north on Granby Street. The driver started to make a turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue and steered into the path of a BMW that was heading south on Granby.

The injured women were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where the passenger was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Information on the driver's condition was not available.

Police said neither woman was wearing a seat belt.

No one in the BMW was reported to have been seriously hurt.
