Lula E. Berry, ``Mother Berry,'' 84, of the 500 block of Cosley Ave., died Oct. 14, 1995, in Obici Hospital.
Mrs. Berry was born in Southampton County. She was the daughter of the late Mattie and William Whitfield and was the widow of Ernest Berry. She was a member of Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church. She retired as a food service worker with Milton Poultry Co. in Milton, Del., after 10 years.
Survivors include two sons, Milton Henry Lassiter and William Chamblis, both of Suffolk; two sisters, Lillie Stephens of Suffolk and Flossie Smith of Richmond; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; three devoted friends., Shirley Cross, Thelma Davis and Olivia Shields; and a host of other family members and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. Materson Copeland. Burial will be in Carver Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William and Bettie Chamblis, 1215 White Marsh Road, Suffolk. Viewing began Sunday at 1 p.m. The body will be placed in the church for viewing at noon Tuesday. The procession will begin at 1 p.m. Applewhite Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling arrangements.
