Garland Wood Beale, 87, died Oct. 17, 1995, in Raleigh, N.C.
Mr. Beale was retired farmer and rural mail carrier and a member of Potecasi Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Hodge Beale; and five sisters; and a brother.
Survivors include his son, Garland Wood Beale Jr., and daughter-in-law, Ann, of Broadway, N.C.; three daughters, Anne Beale Jenkins and son-in-law, Jack of Raleigh, Mary B. Brown and son-in-law, C. Holland Brown of Franklin, Va., and Mattie G. Beale of Tappahannock, Va.; four grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Potecasi Baptist Church by Dr. Michael Simmons and the Rev. Lonnie Armstrong. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Beale in Potecasi. Memorial contributions may be made to the Potecasi Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Louise Cook, Box 52, Potecasi, N.C. 27867. Jackson Funeral Home in charge.
