James Rufus Goff Sr., 85, of the 700 block of Lord Dunmore Drive, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
He was born in Jacksonville, Ala. and was preceded in death by his son James R. Goff Jr. He was a retired vice president and general manager of the Tidewater Supply Company after 36 years of service.
Mr. Goff was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and past president of The Wesleymen Bible Class. He was a member of the Atlantic Masonic Lodge No.2.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Emily Hunt Goff; two sons, Larry H. Goff and his wife, Betty Ann, and Robert C. Goff and his wife, Vicky, all of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mrs. William D. Powell, and Mrs. T. Hayne Waldrop, both of Villa Rica, Ga.; three brothers, Roy D. Goff and Jack K. Goff, both of Jackson, Ga., and Charles H. Goff of Douglasville, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Patricia H. Goff of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren, James R. Goff III, Allyson G. Correll, Andrew H. Goff, Lisa G. Lewis, Larry H. Goff II, Dana Ann Goff, Scott H. Goff; a great-grandson, Bart Lewis; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Epworth United Methodist Church by the Rev. Roy P. White. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. for visitation.
