SARAH B. SEARS

Sarah Bangel Sears, 96, of the first block of Crawford Parkway, died Oct. 19, 1995.

Mrs. Sears was the owner of Sears Betty and Bob retiring after 64 years. She was a member of Gomley Chesed and Chevra Thilim Synagogues, Hadassah, life member of Beth Sholom Home in Virginia Beach, Beazley Senior Citizens, Portsmouth Historical Assn., member of Portsmouth General Hospital, and Maryview Hospital Auxiliaries. She did volunteer work as a Gray Lady at Portsmouth Naval Hospital for five years and as a pink lady at Maryview Hospital. She was an Air Raid Warden during World War II and a volunteer at the Red Cross working at different projects.

She was the widow of the late Hyman Sears and is survived by two daughters, Helene S. Mitchell and Barbara S. Perlin, both of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Chevra Thilim Cemetery by Rabbi Philip S. Krohn. Memorial donations may be made to Gomley Chesed Synagogue or a favorite charity. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
