LOIS R. WHITE

Lois Christine Hall Richard White, 76, of the 500 block of Waterwheel Road, died Oct. 19, 1995.

A native of South Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Frank Winton and Minnie Goodwin Hall. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of South Norfolk and a graduate of South Norfolk High School. She was the widow of Graham R. White Sr. and was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Evelyn H. Todd. She was a lady of strength and courage who touched all who knew her. Following the death of her first husband, Philip Edward Richard Jr., she entered Old Dominion University and graduated at the age of 48 with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education and received her teaching certificate.

Mrs. White was a member of the Delta Sigma Lambda Alumnae Society and past president of Mary Calcott Women's Club. She was also active in many other church and community organizations.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, P. Douglas and Peggy B. Richard and H. Wayne and Betty Sue Richard; and a grandson, Philip Edward Richard, all of Chesapeake; two step-sons, Keith F. White of Virginia Beach and Graham R. White Jr. of Lake Gaston, N.C.; a sister, Dorothy H. Grimes of Richmond; a brother, F. Holton Hall of Chesapeake; a step-granddaughter; and a step-great-granddaughter.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by Vernon C. Grimes. The burial will follow in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and at the residence at all other times. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 20 Koger Executive Center, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
