SUFFOLK CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS

The broadcast of the City Council meeting will be repeated today at 7 p.m. on Municipal Access TV/Channel 13 on Falcon Cable.

The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Wednesday: A. An ordinance to approve a conditional use permit for the placement of a 145-foot monopole cellular communications tower and equipment building located off Route 58 about 2,500 feet from the Suffolk-Chesapeake city line. Approved, 7-0B. An ordinance for consideration of a rezoning request for rezoning from B-2 General Business and B-2 General Business (conditional) to B-2 General Business and B-2 General Business (conditional) HC Historic and Cultural Conservation District. The site is the old Safeway grocery store at the intersection of North Main Street, Church Street and West Constance Road. It is proposed that a Rite Aid pharmacy and another unnamed tenant will build there. Approved, 7-0

A. An ordinance accepting and appropriating $1,400 from the Virginia State Police's Help Eliminate Auto Theft (HEAT) program for the purchase of promotional items - Second Reading. Approved, 7-0

A. Consideration of a request for an encroachment permit for an existing handicapped entrance to 153 N. Main Street. Approved, 7-0To establish a City Council Work Session for Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. unless canceled. Approved, 7-0 by CNB
