CRIME LINE

Police are asking for the public's help with these cases:

NORFOLK

On Wednesday, Oct. 11, just before midnight, 29-year-old James Miller was entertaining several friends at his home in the 2900 block of Verdun Ave.

Suddenly, three men armed with guns entered the apartment and robbed Miller.

Miller tried to flee but was shot repeatedly. He died in his front yard.

Witnesses described all three men as black males in their late teens to early 20s. One man was 6 feet tall and light-skinned; he wore a green hooded sweatshirt.

The other two were short and wore dark clothing.

VIRGINIA BEACH

On Saturday, Oct. 14, 1995, between 1 and 5 a.m., someone broke into A&G Import Auto on Virginia Beach Boulevard through a rear door.

The burglars removed several sets of keys and stole two cars from the parking lot - a 1991 red Alfa Romeo and a 1990 sky-blue Nissan 300ZX. Both cars were recovered within a few days in the Sewells Point area of Norfolk.

SUFFOLK

On Oct. 13, 1995, someone set fire to a shed behind the Youngk residence in the 600 block of Crittenden Road in Suffolk. The burning shed caused the rear of the residence to ignite, and it, too, became engulfed in flames. Damage to the residence was estimated at $45,000.

PORTSMOUTH

Two recent break-ins occurred at the Radio Shack at 5780 Churchland Blvd., the most recent on Oct. 10 around 5 a.m. Suspects broke out the front window, entered the store and took items off the shelves.

Most of the items taken were C.B. radios, scanners, small TVs, walkie talkies, stereos, cassette players, headphones and video games.

The suspects were captured on videotape during the break-in. Anyone wishing to view the video may contact Detective Lloyd Hess of the Burglary Squad at 393-8536.

HAMPTON

On Oct. 4, 1995, about 3:30 p.m., a black man armed with a small automatic handgun entered Kentucky Fried Chicken at 207 W. Mercury Blvd. He jumped the counter and forced several employees to lie on the floor; then he ordered an employee at gunpoint to open the safe, and he took the money.

The suspect is described as a black male with a mustache, 19 to 22, 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin and with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt with a hood and blue jeans. by CNB
