Floyd Arthur Shannon, 68, of the 1500 block of Mathews Terrace, died Oct. 20, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Shannon, a native of Burbank, Ohio, was retired from the U.S. Navy and from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 993 and the Cooties; D.A.V. 41; and American Legion Post 40. He was a Master Mason with Portsmouth Naval Lodge 100; a member of the Shrine Club; and a former member of Portsmouth Elks Lodge 82.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Huffman Shannon; three sons, Donald L. Shannon of Chesapeake; James F. Shannon of Portsmouth; Jack L. Shannon of Lynchburg, Va.; two step-daughters, Felicia Mariani of Blackstone, Va.; Mary Evelyn Grant of Lima, Ohio; a step-son, Ludwig Sorrentino of Port Royal, Va.; three sisters, June Garmier of Hartville, Ohio; Ruth Wade of Stow, Ohio; Margarie Haas of Green Valley, Ariz.; a brother, Wayne Clyde Shannon of Ohio; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Masonic funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Burial with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
