Daniel Edward Maher, 43, of the 1900 block of Indian Creek Road, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, at his residence.
Mr. Maher was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and is the son of Daniel and Vanita Jefferson Maher of Marco Island, Fla. Mr. Maher was the owner and operator of Taylor Rentals of Chesapeake. He was a member of the Issac Walton Conservation League in Chesapeake. Mr. Maher was also the 1986 recipient of the Carnegie Medal of Honor Award for his efforts in saving the life of a child he removed from a burning vehicle.
Other survivors include his wife, Susan Maher; his two daughters, Jennifer and Jaclyn Maher; and his son, Jeremy Maher, all of Chesapeake; two sisters, Mary Van Acker of Plattsburgh, and Sheila Murphy of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Patrick and Shawn Maher, both of Plattsburgh.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. Burial will be held in Champlain, N.Y. Viewing will be at the funeral home today from 2 to 9 p.m.
