MERGERS
The architectural firms of Cederquist Rodriguez Ripley in Norfolk and The Architectural Associates of Chesapeake have merged their services. The firm will trade as Cederquist Rodriguez Ripley Maddux, with the bi-name of The Architectural Associates. Stockholders of the 36 member firm are: David V. Cederquist, Arnold C. Rodriguez, William J. Pipley, John B. Maddux Jr., Kevin T. Ball and Karl S. Hossli.
NEW BUSINESSES
Erich Whitt and Starr Christopherson acquired a business license to operate Alpha Seven Inc., professional engineering services, in Chesapeake.
HONORS, AWARDS
Dr. Maria Bredologos received a public information award of excellence from the Academy of General Dentistry. The yearly recognition is for outstanding state programs that spread positive dental health messages to the public.
Six programs were nominated from 62 constituents in the U.S. and Canada. Three awards of excellence were awarded.
Bredologos implemented Project KidCare, a program developed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Polaroid Corp. The program provides a standardized safety document for children and educates families on child safety.
The Virginia Academy of General Dentistry, Hecht's Department Stores and the Medical College of Virginia pediatric department sponsor the campaign throughout the state.

Business bankruptcies filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk:
Steven A. Korman and Jody R. Korman, Windshield Doctor, filed Chapter 13 debt repayment plan on Oct. 12 with assets of $173,939 and liabilities of $197,465.71.
William D. Robertson, mortgage broker, filed Chapter 13 debt repayment plan on Oct. 16. Assets and liabilities were not available.
Patricia D. Nottingham, formerly doing business as Kimos, filed Chapter 13 on Oct. 17 with assets of $90,323 and liabilities of $130,098.32.
CONTRACTS
W.B. Meredith II Inc. in Norfolk received a $5.6 million contract to renovate the bachelors enlisted quarter 530 at the Naval Air Station Oceana.
Abante Corp. in Norfolk received a $1.5 million contract for repairs to air operations, building 100, NAS Oceana. Abante also received a $1.4 million contract to renovate the Family Services Center buildings 3129 and 3042 at NAB Little Creek. And a $2 million contract for renovations of building N-24, Naval Station in Norfolk. And a $2 million contract for HVAC system and window replacements at building T-26, Naval Air Station in Norfolk.
Blueridge General Inc. in Norfolk received a $699,000 contract to renovate Building 41 at the Naval Security Group Activity, Northwest, in Chesapeake.
Marine Contracting Corp. in Virginia Beach received a $1.4 million contract for structural repairs to piers 1-9 at the NAB Little Creek.
E.V. Williams Co. Inc. in Norfolk received a $616,385 contract for overlay taxiway, Fentress, Naval Air Station Oceana.
Snap Contracting Corp. in Virginia Beach received a $5.5 million contract for repairs to the Bachelors Enlisted Quarters 536, NAS Oceana.
Seema Inc. in Hampton received a $1.3 million contract to renovate Hamilton Hall, building 221 at the Coast Guard reserve training center in Yorktown.
Contractors Paving Co. Inc. received a $1 million contract for phase VI of Indian River Road in Virginia Beach.
Precon Construction Co. in Chesapeake received a $2.9 million contract for supply pier repairs at CAD A, FISC, Cheatham annex in Williamsburg.
Virtexco Corp. in Norfolk received a $1 million contract for repairs to GSE building 401, NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach. Virtexco also received a $520,245 contract for cooling towers repairs and to modify condenser water loop building V10 at Wallops Island. And, Vertexco received a $493,997 contract for an activities center conference facility, building 1222 at Langley Research Center in Hampton.
C.B.C. Enterprises Inc. in Norfolk received a $1.4 million contract for replacement of window system at building SC-1 at AFSC in Norfolk.
S.H. Barner Inc. in Williamsburg received a $1.8 million contract for drinking water wells construction at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
Correction: The Baby Lady consignment shop is located in the Great Bridge Plaza Shopping Center in Chesapeake, not the Great Bridge Shopping Center as reported last week.
