Ora Vivian Aikens, the most beloved mother a child could have ever asked for, of the 1300 block of Westover Ave., died Sunday morning, Oct. 22, 1995, in her residence.
She was born in Benson, N.C., and was the widow of Tom Aikens. Mrs. Aikens was retired from the Norfolk Naval Supply Center as a supervisor after 33 years of service.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris Lynn Aikens Blaha Harrell, and her husband, C. Lydon Harrell Jr. of Norfolk; a sister, Hettie Parker West of Benson, N.C.; two grandsons, John William Haynes Jr. of Norfolk and Ernest Ray Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a dear friend, Jackie Joe Lee Hatton of Norfolk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 1995, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father John Dorgan and the Rev. Samuel D. Beiler. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. for visitation.
