Andrew R. Martin, 68, of 9659 Richview St., a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor, died Oct. 22, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center.
Mr. Martin was born in Norfolk and attended London Bridge Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy (Seabees). He was appointed on Jan. 1, 1952, as first-class fireman in the Division of Fire, with the Norfolk Department of Public Safety.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Faye Harvey of Norfolk, Deborah J. Pape of Niceville, Fla., Cheryl Ann Oakley and Edna E. Emmons, both of Virginia Beach; four sons, Fredrick Andrew Martin of Norfolk, Andrew R. Martin Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Thomas E. Brent and Michael A. Martin, both of Norfolk; a sister, Marie Gibbs of Chesapeake; a brother, Herman G. Martin of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Oakley of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by a daughter, Tamara Raye Martin.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tommy Taylor. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Patricia, 3520 S. Warwick Circle, in Norfolk. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
