The Ghent Neighborhood League and two other Norfolk civic leagues will hold a candidates forum Tuesday night moderated by former Congressman G. William Whitehurst.
Candidates who have tentatively agreed to attend include: Democratic Del. George Heilig and Republican challenger George Schaefer in the 86th House District; Democratic Del. Thomas Moss, Republican Jay Sherrill, and Independent Mark Yatrofsky in the 88th House; Democratic Sen. Yvonne Miller and Republican Bruce Wilcox in the 5th Senate; and Republican challenger Dimitrios Rerras in the 6th Senate. Sen. Stanley Walker, 6th District, is unable to attend.
The forum begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Maury High School, 322 Shirley Ave. The civic leagues have submitted to candidates three questions about education, crime, and social programs. Other questions will be taken from the floor.
The forum is sponsored by the Ghent Neighborhood League, the Colonial Place/Riverview Civic League, and the Larchmont/ Edgewater Civic League. by CNB
