A 49-year-old Norfolk man who was riding his bicycle along Tidewater Drive on Sunday night died after he was hit by a vehicle, police spokesman Larry Hill reported.
Hill said the collision happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Tidewater Drive near Shoop Avenue. The victim was not identified.
The bicyclist was hit when he apparently crossed in front of a 1982 Toyota that was traveling north on Tidewater, Hill said.
He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died at 9:16 p.m.
Neither speeding nor alcohol appeared to contribute to the collision, Hill said. No charges were placed Sunday night against the driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old Norfolk man. The case, still under investigation, was forwarded to the Commonwealth Attorney's office for review, Hill said.
