Detectives arrested a Newport News man early Sunday in connection with the slaying of 21-year-old Calvin R. Davis, who was shot in the 500 block of Bellwood Road on Friday night.
Antoine M. Richardson, 19, was taken into custody without incident at 1:40 a.m., police spokesman Bobby Kipper said. He was charged with murder and use of a firearm.
Davis, who lived in the 500 block of Youngs Mill Lane, was driven by a friend to Riverside Regional Medical Center just before midnight Friday.
He was pronounced dead on arrival from a gunshot wound, police said.
Police said the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute.
